One of the big stinks now being shown all over Facebook again is breast feeding. My wife has breast fed all of our children and breast milk has been established as the best food for a growing baby. Even the misogynistic old school ob-gyn doctors agree on that. What makes it even more amazing is God created women and their mammary glands in a such a way that the chemical composition of the milk automatically changes as the baby grows and his or her nutritional needs change.
So what is the big deal?! My 12 year old daughter told me about a meme she saw where it compared almost naked Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus to a fully clothed blanket covered mother breast-feeding her baby asking the question why the former is OK but the latter is not. So it came to me to what it boils down. So obvious. No one will call it. Sex and jealousy. Breasts are supposed to be for sex, in a man's mind. Men are the ones most uncomfortable with breast feeding but women have bought into the lie as well. Oh yeah, Satan has even corrupted well-meaning but overly misguided Christians as well. Convincing them that breast feeding in public is inappropriate. Most women who do, try and make it as private and unassuming as possible. They are not whipping it out in public at the drop of a hat. They use blankets and try and find a quiet place where they can feed their babies peacefully. Sometimes that is not possible. Quite frankly, I would rather sit next to a breastfeeding mom on a bus, train, airplane, or boat than one who has a baby screaming in my ear because the baby is hungry. Are there some women who bare most just to prove a point? Yes there are. I think they do more harm to their cause than good but that is just my opinion.
Back to the why. A woman's breasts are considered part of her physical beauty. God created them that way and God created men to be attracted to women in a physical manner. God also created women to be able to feed their children in that manner. Man chose to be corrupted by Satan and part of that corruption is the sin of sexual lust. All men are tempted by it. ALL. Jealousy is also a sin which effects both men and women. So when a woman is using her breasts to feed her baby, she is bonding with that baby naturally and the man is not included. Not only that, but now the baby has monopolized what he feels is his as part of being a husband/boyfriend. These feelings invoke that sin nature which gives rise to jealousy. Yes even in a good healthy Godly marriage, these feelings arise in men. Men and women who are reading this might deny it or stick their heads in the sand etc. But it is still true. Most men get over it. I did.
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue is not for women. The porn industry does not get supported by the overwhelming purchases made by women. Bikini's were not invented for women. Etc. etc. I don't need to continue in that vein. So why are so many women so outspokenly against breast feeding in public? A few of them are misguided in that they think it crosses the line of decency. I say misguided because I believe they would also denounce immodesty and porn, etc. There are a great number, confusing as it is, support abortion but find public breast feeding distasteful. They also support dressing immodestly, cause "it is their bodies and they can do with it as they want." The rest? Who knows. All have been deceived.
So here it is. God created us pure and innocent. God wanted it to stay that way. Man chose to lose that innocence and in so doing opened the door to death, sin, corruption. Along with this, the beauty of his creation, the perception of that beauty, the beauty of the physical union between a husband and wife. The best marriages at times come close with the help of the Holy Spirit but it no longer comes natural as it was meant to be.
Where does that leave the issue? Here is my take on it. A mother feeding her baby is how it is supposed to be. Women exposing there natural or sometimes unnatural beauty for the seduction of the male public (in some cases the female) is not how it is supposed to be. Choose right. Choose wrong. Whichever, shut your mouths (or electronic devices) and accept the consequences or benefits of your choices and stop looking for something to be stupid about.
