Why Me?!!!
Anyone who knows some of my history, especially the past 4 + years, would think that this is a daily cry to God.
- My mother died in fall 2007
- Received a really bad career/work evaluation in March 2008
- Approximately 5 kidney surgeries in 2008
- My close friend died in 2008 and his funeral was on the day of one of those surgeries so I could not attend
- My 12 year old daughter was hit by a car riding her bicycle Jun 18, 2008 and died 2 weeks later July 2, 2008
(my birthday is June 25 along with Fathers Day in between, her birthday is July 26.)
- August my left kidney went into failure
- I contracted viral meningitis in February 2009 and almost died - left me unable to work full time.
- April 15 2009, 1 month before my pre-scheduled layoff of May 31, I was fired due to my non-performance which was due to my sickness. We could not afford to sue even though we were told we had a solid case.
- April 2011, I was denied SS disability, even though I was determined to be disabled by the court expert, because I made a few dollars more part time than was the minimum allowed to be considered. I just wanted help with medical, I did not care about monetary supplement.
- I suffer from chronic arthritis in my hands due to falling off the roof in 1994.
- I found out recently that I may need my hip replaced and I have no health insurance
- My kidney pain has been flairing up more frequently
- I am still unable to work a full-time job and am in need of oxygen support from time-to-time
All the above would seem to fuel the lament of "Why me??!!!"
Now let's look at another list of Why me's but with a different perspective.
- Even though I was his enemy, God lowered himself and became a sinless man, willingly accepted my deserved punishment, a gruesome and horrible death, so that I would not have to spend an eternity in hell.
- I was born in a country where freedoms are so prevalent that they are often taken for granted
- I was able to marry my best friend
- I have been given the honor of raising 12 children
- I was saved from death numerous times by qualified and well-equipped medical personnel
- I had the opportunity to earn an advanced degree
- I had parents, who made mistakes, but stuck it out, loved each other, and tried their best to set good examples.
- I have a roof over my head, food to eat.
- I have 2 vehicles to drive
- I have a business which is rapidly growing and is supporting 3 families
- I have this computer and internet access
- I attend a church with people who generally love one another
There are countless other blessings as well. So now I ask why me? I did not/do not deserve all the preceding advantages and any of the added extras which I left out. So why me God? He answered. It is up to you to discover for yourself what that answer will be. If your "why me" is a serious of laments, your answer will only frustrate you further. If your "why me" is of humble query, then your answer will simultaneously drive you to your knees in tears and lift you up to ride on the clouds!
